Reports to: Associate Director, Grant Programs
Position Description:
As a member of Facing History's Global Fundraising initiative, the Grants Writer is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding corporate and foundation donors for specified offices.
Responsibilities include:
- Researching potential corporate and foundation funders
- Writing letters of inquiry, concept papers, proposals, progress reports, and end-of-the-year letters
- Working with development staff on development strategies, cultivation, and stewardship efforts
- Working with program staff to develop action plans and budgets for programs and projects
- Working with program staff to monitor effective implementation of grant requirements
- Stewarding and soliciting corporate gifts and providing support to specified offices
- Tracking proposals and grants through the use of grant and project-tracking databases
Essential Skills/Qualities:
- BA/BS required
- At least two years experience in grant writing required
- Excellent writing, research and computer skills
- Excellent communication skills, in person and on the phone
- Ability to handle multiple projects and to meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Creative energy, self-starter
- Interest in and ability to articulate the mission of this non-profit
