As a member of the New England Fundraising staff and part of the New England team, the Development Associate will contribute to the development and implementation of fundraising strategies for New England.
Responsibilities include:
New England Benefit Dinner
- Full responsibility for planning and logistics of annual benefit in New England.
- Manage all vendor relationships for benefit.
- Working closely with Development team and Program team on New England benefit.
- Work closely with Program Director to develop and manage student and teacher program for benefit.
Development Efforts
- Work closely with Associate Director, Development in New England on the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of individual and corporate donors.
- Assist Associate Director in donor research and analysis and in the cultivation of donors
- Develop strategies to increase annual campaign giving in New England (non-leadership gifts).
- Maintain portfolio of donors
- Participate in presentations to funders and potential funders
Fundraising Events
- Plan and manage, with Associate Director, community events including corporate events, house parties, and the annual benefit dinner.
- Increasing outreach to the New England community in an effort to cultivate relationships and build additional partnerships for Facing History in New England
- Conducting outreach for community events
Support for Advisory Board
- Providing stewardship and support to the New England Advisory Board, in consort with the Associate Director
- Preparing and mailing agenda and minutes
- Servicing subcommittees of the Advisory Board
Essential skills/qualities:
- BA/BS degree
- Excellent organization skills, oral and written communication skills
- Minimum of three years experience in fundraising and/or public relations and marketing
- Significant event planning skills essential
- Familiarity with New England non-profit and educational communities
- Ability to work individually and as a member of a team; flexibility
- Creative energy, self-starting, ability to handle multiple projects
- Interest in, and ability to articulate, the mission of this non-profit
