Perkins School for the Blind, located in Watertown, Massachusetts, is the first school for the blind chartered in the United States. For 180 years Perkins has provided quality educational services to students and clients who are blind, visually impaired, deafblind and multi-impaired.

 

Perkins is seeking a focused, motivated, highly organized individual to fill an important role in our expanding, successful development organization, the Perkins Trust.

 

The Grants Management Associate will be responsible for the overall administration of grants, contracts, and/or cooperative agreements from the U.S. government and other institutional donors (foundations, corporations, multilateral institutions, etc.). S/he will track and manage stewardship and reporting requirements necessary to sustain successful partnerships with institutional funding sources; monitor progress on grant deliverables; maintain documentation on all matters related to grants; and issue correspondence as necessary. S/he will draft narrative reports that meet grant requirements.

 

The Grants Management Associate will serve as a liaison with business office, program staff, and Perkins Trust staff on all matters related to his/her grants portfolio. Sh/e will respond to audits, and ensure proper recording in Raiser's Edge database. S/he will monitor federal, state and local RFP announcements, identify funding opportunities, conduct prospect research, and prepare in-depth funding profiles. S/he will take ownership of special projects as needed to advance the mission and effectiveness of Institutional Giving to Perkins.

 

Required Education, Experience, and Skills include:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum of three years experience in the management/administration of federal government grants, preferably USAID grants
  • Skilled in describing Perkins' goals and programs in a way that appeals to the grantmaking interests of institutional donors
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to comply with detailed written directions and guidelines
  • Ability to organize large quantities of written materials, including budgets
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks, work well under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Skilled in prospect research
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Raiser's Edge experience preferred

Other important qualities are excellent time management skills, ability to work well in a small team environment, a winning attitude, and a strong work ethic.
