Lauren McGill joins Connecticut Children’s as Vice President of Foundation Operations

January 2023

Connecticut Children’s Foundation is pleased to welcome Lauren E. McGill as Vice President of Foundation Operations. Lauren joins the Foundation from Trinity College, where she worked for more than seven years in positions of increasing responsibility and scope. Most recently, Lauren held a senior leadership role as Director of Advancement Operations where she managed day-to-day operations for Advancement Services including both Advancement Information System and the Advancement Analytics & Research divisions. Lauren worked closely with the President’s Office and was pivotal in preparing Trinity for their current $500 million bicentennial campaign. She managed aspects of the campaign in its quiet phase and in collaboration with senior leadership, faculty, staff, and the Board of Trustees, helped them raise $285 million and go public. Lauren brings strong business acumen and an understanding of complex systems and moves management to her new position, as well as strong people management skills and an affinity for supporting diversity, equity and inclusion and mission-driven work. She has a background in teaching at the post-secondary level and in for-profit sales. She is looking forward to being a contributing member of the Senior team at Connecticut Children’s and helping advance the mission of Connecticut Children’s to improve the physical and emotional health of children through family-centered care, research, education, and advocacy

Connecticut Children’s Foundation supports the health system by engaging patient families, donors, community members, philanthropic partners, and other constituents. The Foundation raises the financial resources needed to invest in people, research, technology, and state-of-the-art equipment, while also supporting the care all children need and deserve. A dedicated team of professionals work closely with donors to match their passions and interests with the strategic needs of Connecticut Children’s. Additionally, the Foundation plans and implements some of the finest philanthropic events in the region, with one goal in mind: to generate support for Connecticut Children’s and help deliver life-saving care to more children

As their Vice President of Foundation Operations (VPFO), Lauren will drive the overall strategy of Connecticut Children’s Foundation, alongside the Foundation President. She will serve as a contributing member of the Foundation’s Leadership team, providing strong organizational leadership, as well as oversee philanthropic operations. Lauren and her team of five will provide oversight for all Foundation operations, leading the areas of data information, research, gift processing, record management, receipt, and acknowledgments, as well as overseeing external reporting and ensuring best practices of Foundation operations.

This is an exciting time for the VPFO to join the team, as Connecticut Children’s is embarking on their first comprehensive campaign in support of a $400 million expansion for the health system. The highlights of this campaign will be establishing a Fetal Care Center, adding an Advanced Cellular & Gene Therapy Unit, expanding Mental Health services, creating 50 private Neonatal Intensive Care Unit rooms, and building an eight-story expansion on its main campus to double the size of the existing Medical Center. Lauren is very excited for the central role in the successful roll out of the campaign and in turn, the scope, reach, and footprint of Connect Children’s into the future.
