The Hundred Club of Massachusetts seeks a dynamic Executive Director to lead the organization and its fundraising efforts, and drive growth in support of the families of first responders.
For over 65 years The Hundred Club of Mass (The Hundred Club) has served as a resource for the families of active-duty First Responders following their death. The Hundred Club was patterned after the original Hundred Club in Detroit, which was founded in 1952. Following the fatal shooting of a young Detroit police officer, a generous benefactor and friend of the Detroit Police Commissioner invited 100 of his business associates to dinner at the Ritz Carlton encouraging them to donate $100 to a fund for the fallen officer and the family he left behind. The response was 100%, and the concept of the “Hundred Club” was created. Today there are many “Hundred Clubs” operating independently around the country. To the best of our knowledge, The Hundred Club of Mass was the 2nd one to form after Detroit.
The Hundred Club gives an unequivocal and unconditional promise to active-duty police officers and firefighters in Massachusetts that in the event of their death, The Hundred Club will honor their service and care for their surviving families for the rest of their lives. The Club’s reach extends across all 351 cities and towns in the Commonwealth acting swiftly to identify the identify the individual needs of each beneficiary’s family and provide financial assistance to help them navigate the challenges of sudden loss.
Beyond immediate relief, when a First Responder dies in the Line of Duty the organization becomes a through line offering additional continued services through financial support, scholarships, and emotional resources.
