United South End Settlements (USES), we offer programs that support the whole family in achieving economic mobility. We help parents and caregivers develop their own capacity to reach their goals, increase their income and assets, and connect with new networks of people through One-on-One Coaching combined with opportunities for personal development through Family Mobility programming. We provide quality education and enrichment opportunities for children and youth that foster personal development and social-emotional skills such as perseverance, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving – Early Childhood Education, club48 out of school time programming, and Camp Hale on Squam Lake in New Hampshire. CORE GOALS AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB
As Family Mobility Manager, your work is essential in establishing USES’s advocacy agenda while managing the implementation and delivery of coaching and benefit screenings. In addition to providing direct service, this role requires recruiting and managing volunteers to provide benefit screening services to participants in our program. The Family Mobility Manager will also supervise the Program Coordinator and manage the organization-wide implementation of Two-Gen services.
COLLABORATIONS & REPORTING STRUCTURE
As Family Mobility Manager, this person will work closely with the Family Mobility Team, Program Directors and Managers, and other key members of USES’s talented team. This position will also have broader exposure in leading organization-wide advocacy efforts, particularly with USES’s externally facing staff. In addition, this position will form and support key external relationships in USES’s social advocacy work. This person will report directly to the Chief Program Officer
WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO
The key responsibilities of this position include:
- Develop policy priority areas in partnership with USES leadership and track legislation related to these issues
- Actively participate in coalitions in alignment with organizational priorities, and develop partnerships with legislators and other relevant members of local government
- Serve as a connector between policy and internal practice, including organizing internal stakeholders to develop a voice and narrative around policy priorities for our organization
- Passionately drive awareness of USES’s policy positions; this will include identifying and coordinating social and other tools to advance specific issues
- Develop expertise around strategies and resources to support families’ economic mobility
- Maintain and expand on materials and information around Public Benefits and resources
- Support the implementation and development of Financial Health curriculum and other deliverables
- Supervise the Family Mobility Program Coordinator in the implementation of the Income Supports Program
- Support with tracking of programmatic impact per organizational and
- Departmental guidelines, and supervision of volunteers.
- Develop internal and external partnerships for program referrals and implementation of specific Whole-Family Engagement Strategies
- Delivering 1:1 coaching service to families, including assisting participants with securing employment and building financial capabilities
- Tracking participants’ goals and progress using Salesforce- the organization’s data collecting system.
- Manage the implementation of organization-wide coaching model
Program and Organizational Responsibilities
- Coordinate the execution of the STEP Guaranteed Income Program
- Partner closely with other Program Directors and Managers to create a seamless process of incorporating Family Mobility as a core component of USES’s Two-Generation program model, including building an org-wide social capital strategy and promoting family engagement
- Responsible for managing and supporting the integration of Family Mobility programming throughout the organization
- Coordinate cross-program meetings, outreach activities, and facilitate sharing relevant information pertaining to families engaged in the multiple USES programs
- Work closely with youth Program Directors and Managers to develop strategies for engaging existing USES families
- Build and maintain community partnerships and coordinate efforts to maximize the use of resources that complement Family Engagement efforts, such as financial institutions, local non-profits, financial opportunity centers, and others
- Improve and expand programs based on family needs, best practices, and outcomes. o Collaborate with the Development team on funding opportunities, including grant applications and reports
- Support management of Family Mobility budget
- Support in the coordination of Harriet Tubman Change Maker Series events

- Commitment to USES’s mission and core values
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a nonprofit setting with a family or youth focus
- Given the highly complex nature of the material, the Family Mobility Manager must have strong attention to detail and experience in advocacy and community organizing
- Knowledge of racial equity, determinants of poverty, and social justice frameworks
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
- One year of experience in volunteer recruitment and management
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Must be able to exercise sound judgment and confidentiality
- Ability to work remotely or onsite as needed
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, take the initiative and be a self-starter Demonstrate a positive attitude with the ability to engage in collaborative problem solving Experience with clinical social work and working with families preferred
WHAT WE OFFER
The salary for this role is $50,000-55,000. We’ll promote your professional growth and development by providing access to a benefits package, including medical and dental insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, pension contributions, paid vacation, and more.
WORK EXPECTATIONS AT USES
Primarily in-person at 48 Rutland. Occasional weekend and evening hours for recruitment and Family Mobility events. Covid-19 vaccine preferred but not required. Masks might be mandated depending on COVID numbers and CDC recommendations.
