One of the oldest and largest human services organizations for New Americans in the region, IINE serves more than 4,000 people each year in Boston and Lowell, Massachusetts, and Manchester, New Hampshire. Our programs include case management, youth and family services, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), employment and skills training, and immigration legal services.

About the Position

Reports to: Chief Advancement Officer and Senior Vice President

Status:           Full-time, Exempt

Job Location:           Boston, MA

Salary:           $95,000 – $110,000

The Senior Major Gifts Officer will help IINE significantly grow major giving by developing, socializing, and executing strategies to build a robust pipeline of individual donors and prospects, focused primarily on the major ($25,000–$999,999) gifts level. Working with the Vice President, Principal and Major Giving, this position will support new multi-tier giving societies and a continued transitioning of our past philanthropic model to a greater focus on securing private support from individual donors at the major gift level and above.  The Senior Major Gifts Officer will also help build an individual donor gifts team, help recruit, supervisor, and support additional giving officers, and will directly manages a portfolio of IINE’s potential donors and prosects and ensure donors are closely stewarded and presented with opportunities to deepen their relationships with and increase their support of IINE. This is an excellent position for an experienced major gifts officer interested in a growth opportunity.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage an assigned portfolio of major giving prospects and donors.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise additional gift officer(s)as IINE grows its individual donor model. Support, coach and manage direct report(s), while holding them accountable to established annual goals.
  • Conduct prospect research, cultivation, and solicitation activities; Qualify major donors to principal donors utilizing moves management process as defined.
  • Develop and implement individualized strategies and targeted ask amounts for donors within assigned portfolio.
  • Provide high-touch stewardship to assigned donors, including in-person visits, zoom calls, phone calls, and tailored e-mail correspondence to cultivate, solicit and secure major gifts.
  • Manage the solicitation of individual donor portfolio for event sponsorships for IINE’s signature events, including International Women’s Day, the Golden Door Award Gala, and other events. 
  • Maintain donor and donor prospect information in Salesforce, including up-to-date contact information; relevant donor research; logging calls, emails, and meetings; iWave scores, etc.
  • Leverage interactions with event volunteers, donors, sponsors, Board members, public officials, and stakeholders toward donor fundraising goals. 
  • Perform all other duties assigned by supervisor.

Required Skills/Abilities 

  • Superior interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.  
  • Ability to manage others to successful performance outcomes.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, project coordination experience, and the ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff. 
  • Outgoing personality and ability to initiate and enjoy direct communication with donors and potential donors; customer-service orientation. 
  • Highly motivated and energetic, ability to initiate and work independently. 
  • Travel, evening, and weekend work as required.  
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce or similar donor database program. 
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint (mandatory). 
  • Capacity to work in a multicultural environment with an appreciation for diverse staff and clientele.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • A minimum of five years of fundraising experience required and a proven track-record of securing major-level giving; Campaign experience desired. A minimum of two years of supervisory experience.
  • Planned giving experience is a plus.
  • Strong presentation, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Experience in a multi-cultural/multi-lingual workplace.
  • Experience responding to external stakeholders, including private funders and a Board of Directors.
  • A growth mindset and a high level of personal and professional accountability.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills and Salesforce customer relationship management software preferred.

Work Environment Conditions (Please include all relevant working environment conditions for this position) 

  • The Major Giving Officer is expected to travel to all three IINE locations as needed, working primarily in the Boston office; the position requires access to reliable transportation

  • May require lifting materials (boxes, equipment) of up to 50 pounds 
  • Requires sitting (or standing) at a desk for long periods of time 
  • Requires driving to and from IINE offices as needed
