Cate McLaughlin has been placed as the new Assistant Vice President for Capital Giving at Simmons College, Boston MA.
Cate will serve as a strategic leader of Simmons’ philanthropy as a member of the Advancement Management Group (AMG). Contributing to a collaborative effort, she will work closely with the Vice President of Advancement, the Assistant Vice President of Alumnae Engagement, and the Assistant Vice President of Advancement Strategy, as well as with the AVP of Advancement Services. She will orchestrate all major gifts strategies; supervising a team of 10 development staff and overseeing a capital and major gifts program. Cate will also be primarily responsible for integrating major gifts with foundation, corporate, and planned giving and donor relations activities.
Cate brings with her 12 years of increasing development experience, an MBA with a concentration in Nonprofit Management and working on completing her Masters in Philanthropic Studies. Most recently, Cate moved to a Director position at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine (TUSDM), where she held a variety of roles, one of which was the Director of Development. In this frontline fundraising position, Cate successfully partnered with the Senior Director of Development and Alumni Relations and administrative leadership to bring many 6 and 7 figure gifts from identification to completion. Cate began her career with the United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley (UWMBMV) as a Development Assistant, from which she established the Donor Relations role and eventually took over the management of their leadership giving society and a frontline fundraising portfolio.
