ClientEarth is an organization of activist lawyers committed to securing a healthy planet by working to ensure that good environmental laws are enforced and that poor ones are challenged. The organization’s legal approach to environmental problems is unique in Europe — until ClientEarth was established in 2006 there was not one environmental NGO practicing law for the public interest on a pan-European scale.
As the new Associate Director, Major Gifts, Jessica Cox will develop and implement ClientEarth’s United States fundraising program with a focus on generating unrestricted income from major gifts. As the first staff member based in the United States, Jessica will serve as a key ambassador for ClientEarth’s mission, building and managing a new donor and volunteer base in support of the organization’s international work.
Jessica brings over 16 years of development experience to ClientEarth. Most recently, Jessica served as the Major Gift Officer for God’s Love We Deliver, an organization that provides nutritious meals to clients living with life-altering illnesses in the New York metropolitan area. In prior roles, Jessica relaunched the Environmental Defense Fund’s mid-level giving program, established the NYC office and fundraising operation for Mercy Corps, served as a senior major gift officer role at the ACLU, and led the development office of The Tibet Fund. Earlier in her career, Jessica spent over a decade in marketing and business development for start-ups in the United Kingdom before finding her passion for major gift fundraising.
