The American University of Beirut (AUB) is a private, non-sectarian institution of higher learning, dedicated to providing academic excellence and service to the people of the Middle East and beyond. As the new Executive Director of Advancement based in New York, Jihad Mirza will lead the North American development and alumni relations operation for the University. He will serve as a key ambassador for AUB in North America and work closely with University leadership, including the President, the Vice President for University Advancement, deans and volunteer leaders, to ensure the successful execution of the recently announced $650 million campaign, Boldly AUB. Additionally, Jihad will provide the leadership and direction to ensure that the talent, systems, plans and practices are in place to support a high performing fundraising program in North America that includes annual, major and planned giving, special events, institutional grants and sponsorships as well as a robust alumni engagement effort.
Raised in Lebanon, Jihad brings a wealth of personal knowledge and passion to AUB. For the past 20+ years, Jihad has held both advancement and academic leadership positions at various independent schools on the East and West Coasts, most recently serving as the Director of Advancement at the French American International School in the Bay Area. He brings a depth of experience in frontline fundraising, campaigns, and management of teams as well as a knowledge of marketing and communications strategy as it relates to fundraising.
