Kathryn McCarron joins Babson College as Managing Director, Annual Giving

April 2018

As the new Managing Director of Annual Giving, Kathryn (Kat) will be joining Babson at a point marked by unprecedented growth and achievement for the Advancement team. Kat will have measurable and sustained impact on Babson’s future by providing leadership and management for a comprehensive annual giving program to drive the acquisition of donors and dollars through donor segmentation, analytics, and persuasive writing.  Reporting to Ed Chiu, Senior Vice President for Advancement, Kat will be charged with elevating participation in the Fund for Babson from 26% to a target of 40% by 2023. She will oversee a team of six responsible for all annual solicitations, including direct mail, email and social media to expand Babson’s donor base and increase current-use financial support from all constituencies, including alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students, corporations/foundations and friends.

Kat brings a strong history of strategic management and alumni engagement work with her, including Annual Fund, direct mail and email solicitation, and communications. During her tenure at Ursuline Academy, as the former Director of Advancement, she provided strategic leadership to improve fundraising and contributed significantly to growing the Annual Fund. Prior to Ursuline Academy, Kat served as the Chief Development Officer at Pioneer Institute, and the Director of the Annual Fund at Newton Country Day School.

Established in 1919, Babson College is ranked #1 for entrepreneurship by U.S News & World Report. Its mission is to prepare entrepreneurial leaders to create economic and social value everywhere.  Babson prides itself as the educator, convener and thought leader for entrepreneurship of all kinds.  Under the leadership of President Kerry Healey, 3,000 undergraduate and graduate students representing more than 80 countries currently attend Babson.
