Located in the heart of Boston’s medical community, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), a major teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School, serves more than half a million patients annually from New England and throughout the nation. The Roberta and Stephen R. Weiner Department of Surgery of BIDMC is one of the preeminent, busiest, and oldest surgical departments in the nation and is recognized for groundbreaking initiatives and renowned internationally for its excellence in patient care, research, and education. Under the leadership of Chairman Elliot Chaikof, MD, PhD, the department now has 14 divisions, more than a dozen multidisciplinary clinical programs, and over 200 clinical and research faculty.

As Director of Development, Kevin Mitchell will continue to build and expand the philanthropy program in support of Surgery and its ambitious plans in clinical, research and educational initiatives. Kevin comes to BIDMC from most recently serving as Associate Director, Major Gifts at Lahey Health. Prior to Lahey Health, Kevin served as Annual Giving Manager for Tufts Medical Center Trust in Boston, MA and held multiple positions including Director of Development and Director of Communications and Foundations at uAspire, also in Boston, MA.
