About St. Anthony Shrine
St. Anthony Shrine (the Shrine) is a center for Roman Catholic ministry in Boston, MA, directed by the Franciscan Friars of the Province of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
The doors of the Shrine boldly proclaim, ‘All Are Welcome,’ reminding all of the invitation to participate in church, regardless of one’s state in life. The Shrine currently offers 21 weekly Masses and 19 hours of confession, a variety of counseling and spiritual direction programs, as well as a robust set of programs to help the most disenfranchised poor in Downtown Boston. Inspired by the enduring legacy of St. Francis of Assisi, the friars and staff cultivate a myriad of partnerships with political, civic, and religious leaders, as well as social service experts, health care professionals, and law enforcement agencies to care for our sisters and brothers and to enhance the quality of life of the downtown community. This approach follows the Franciscan tradition of living out the Gospel of Jesus Christ “in the marketplace.
