A relationship-driven fundraiser and former professional dancer, Mathew brings both significant expertise and a deep passion for Graham’s mission, legacy, and future. With more than a decade of nonprofit leadership experience, he most recently served as Managing Director of Strategic Advancement at Room to Grow. His previous roles include positions with Free Arts NYC, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum & Foundation, Van Alen Institute, Peridance Center, and MoMA & MoMA PS1. An enrolled member of the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians, Mathew’s Indigenous heritage deeply informs his approach to philanthropy – grounding his work in relationship-building, reciprocity, stewardship, and a long-term commitment to community impact.
In his new role, Mathew will serve as a strategic partner to Executive Director LaRue Allen, Artistic Director Janet Eilber, Deputy Executive Director Simona Ferrara, the Board, and colleagues across the organization. He will lead an integrated fundraising strategy focused on major and Patron-level giving, campaign priorities, institutional support, and broader donor engagement, while mentoring members of the development team and strengthening the systems, partnerships, and culture that shape philanthropy at Graham.
Mathew is energized by the opportunity to partner closely with leadership, staff, and Trustees to position the Company for continued growth in its second century. His first day is June 1.
