The City College of New York has appointed Scott Gurba to be its chief operating officer.
As COO, Gurba will be responsible for: optimizing CCNY’s assets; professionalizing and integrating the College’s operations to attain optimal outcomes; and developing the College’s human capital.
Gurba possesses a broad range of financial and operational responsibilities in the financial services industry across the private and public sectors. Formerly senior vice president of strategy and process innovation at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, he served in increasingly responsible positions at the Bank: senior vice president of financial operations; senior vice president, chief financial officer and head of transformation; senior vice president and chief operating officer; and vice president of enterprise financial planning. Before joining the Fed in 2007, he spent eight years in senior management positions at American Express.
“At a time when the College needs an astute and visionary strategic planning, Scott brings the exact attributes for the job,” said CCNY President Vincent G. Boudreau in announcing the appointment. “He has a proven history of success across every aspect of the work he will assume at CCNY: financial planning, facilities management, information technology, and the strategic management of all of these assets. With him on board, CCNY will be better equipped more than ever to meet the challenges of this moment.”
“I was attracted to City College because of its mission to serve. The College’s rich history and exciting future drew me in and I wanted to be a part of it,” said Gurba. “Working across the organization with a focus on strategy and strengthening the integration of critical operations will enhance The City College’s value proposition for years to come. I welcome this opportunity to put my knowledge, skills and experience to great use for the College.”
Gurba holds an M.B.A. in finance from Hofstra University, and a B.S. in finance and investments from Northern Arizona University.
He was selected after a nationwide search conducted by Development Guild DDI.
