Ann Scheflen joins Farnsworth Art Museum as Chief Development Officer

June 2019

Ann-Scheflen

Ann Scheflen

As the new Chief Development Officer, Ann joins the senior management team reporting directly to Farnsworth’s Executive Director, Christopher J. Brownawell. She will provide strategic direction for and management of both the development and communications programs.

With a national Board and prospect base, she will manage a portfolio of major donors and work closely with Board and campaign leadership to develop and further national awareness and reputability of the Farnsworth. Ann will also use her creativity and strategic perspective to collaborate with counsel on campaign priorities and communications. Ann is looking forward to designing and implementing a strategy that achieves campaign goals while also building numbers of prospects, donors, and engagement programs for long term expansion of Farnsworth’s fundraising capacity.

Ann brings to the position 20+ years of senior leadership experience and expertise in development and communications, particularly focused on arts and cultural institutions. Most recently serving as the Chief Philanthropy Officer at the Grand Canyon Conservancy, Ann partnered with the CEO and leadership to drive a highly successful development effort and complete the organization’s first-ever fundraising campaign. She has a demonstrated record of fundraising accomplishments, and successful team and Board management and development. Prior to the Conservancy, Ann worked for the National Museum of Wildlife Art as the Chief Advancement Officer in Jackson, Wyoming. Ann joined the Museum of New Mexico Foundation in the role of Director Membership & Communications for 10 years, and then as the Vice President Development from 2010 to 2014.

Ann’s expertise and track record in leading campaigns and comprehensive fundraising programs, growing organizational capacity, and inspiring others to a shared vision will be great assets to the Farnsworth Art Museum. She brings a deep appreciation for the Farnsworth’s nationally recognized collection and its important role in Maine.
