Ramona Ramadar joins The Salvation Army Greater New York Division as Planned Giving Director

September, 2019

Ramona Ramadar is the new Planned Giving Director of The Salvation Army, Greater NY Division.

As the new Planned Giving Director for the Salvation Army Greater New York Division, based in Manhattan, Ramona will be driving the planned giving team and strategy to the organizations 150-year legacy of doing good, fighting poverty, and transforming lives.

Reporting to Major Lurlene Johnson, Divisional Director of Advancement, Ramona will play a critical role in the success of the Division’s fund development efforts, specifically in leading all planned gift strategies, solicitations, and communications. She will lead the planned giving donor and prospect caseload assignments for the planned giving staff, as well as command their own high-end portfolio of donors and prospects. In this role, Ramona will also act as the lead contact between the Eastern Territory planned giving operation and the Greater New York Division to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward planned gifts.

Ramona has 10+ years of professional experience in nonprofit and corporate settings, with the past 5 1/2 years focused exclusively on planned giving. In her previous role as the Regional Director of Gift Planning for Planned Parenthood Federation of America, she managed the Midwest Region (17 states) where she has raised over $1M in new and repeat life income gifts and cultivated high capacity donors as the sole solicitor and in collaboration with the National Director. In addition to her profession career trajectory, Ramona serves on the Executive Board of Philanthropic Planned Giving Group of Greater New York (PPGGNY) and has been involved since 2015. In her series of progressive roles at St. Francis Hospital, Ramona served as a Development Associate, Data Specialist, Donor Relations, and initially Marketing/Special Events. In her Associate role she was introduced to planned giving and helped to build the program from scratch, learning the technical and relational sides of the field.

The Salvation Army USA, whose headquarters are based in Alexandria, VA, serves those in need across four territories: Western, Central, Southern and Eastern U.S.A. TSA of Greater New York is one of 11 divisions within the Eastern Territory. Consisting of more than 70 centers across thirteen counties, the Greater New York Division is fully dependent upon philanthropy to deliver services to individuals annually, ranging from feeding the hungry, providing relief for disaster victims, adult rehabilitation, women’s ministries, clothing and shelter to the homeless, and combating human trafficking.
