The National Audubon Society welcomes a senior development leader to strengthen advocacy efforts and engage diverse audiences

The National Audubon Society is one of the oldest, largest, and most influential conservation organizations in the United States. Since 1905, a passion for birds and nature has been the driving force behind Audubon’s conservation legacy. With a national network of more than one million members, 463 chapters, 23 state offices, 41 nature centers, and 23 wildlife sanctuaries, the organization has played a critical role in some of the most significant victories for birds and the environment. In 2019, the National Audubon Society hired Development Guild to partner on two executive searches at a pivotal time in its history.

The Audubon was seeking a Managing Director of Development Communications; they needed an exceptional communicator with the ability to speak to and engage diverse audiences. We crafted a unique and rigorous interview process to deeply assess candidates’ fit and abilities, and as a result, Audubon welcomed Lauren Shoor to the position. As the former Director of Philanthropic Communications at the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Lauren built a first-ever comprehensive donor communications program – and team – from scratch. She brings to Audubon a unique ability to demonstrate philanthropic impact through visually compelling and inspiring donor communications and a deep commitment to the organization’s mission.

Our close partnership with the National Audubon Society, as well as our commitment to listening to, understanding, and fulfilling expectations, means the organization is now well-positioned to make a transformational case to donors.
