Stephen Giannotti joins Baruch College as Vice President for Information Services and Chief Information Officer

May 2024

Baruch College is pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen Giannotti as Vice President for Information Services and Chief Information Officer at Baruch College, effective Monday, May 6. Serving as chief strategist and lead administrator for all aspects of information technology, the Stephen will collaborate with all stakeholder groups to ensure agility and responsiveness in meeting the evolving technology needs of the campus community for teaching, learning, and working. In this role, Stephen will consult with key stakeholders at the College to inform technology practices, training, and policymaking and provide guidance to the campus leadership on emerging cyber challenges and leading initiatives to implement strategies to effectively reduce vulnerabilities and mitigate risks.

Stephen has over 23 years of experience in information technology with a progressive career track within the public sector. Most recently, he has served as the Deputy Chief Information Officer for the New York City Office of the Comptroller since 2015, overseeing technology modernization; digital transformation of business processes; technology governance; software design, development, and implementation; project management; IT portfolio management; web design and administration; and data analytics.

Prior to the Office of the Comptroller, Stephen worked at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, serving in a series of incrementally senior roles: Assistant Commissioner/Chief Software Architect for the Bureau of Application Development, Director of Application and System Development, and Application Developer. In these roles, he oversaw the application and system architecture, design, and implementation; enterprise-wide implementation of new technology; and the technical design of new development initiatives and maintenance of existing software.

He began his career in information technology as the Web Developer Team Lead for the New York City Office of Payroll Administration. Over the years, Stephen has received various awards recognizing his technological expertise and contributions, in addition to producing publications and presentations in the public health and technological fields.

He received his BS in computer engineering from Lehigh University.
