Matthew Weber to be New CEO of Development Guild DDI

Posted May 1, 2024

Matt WeberWe are pleased to announce a change in Development Guild leadership, it is big and happy news for us.

On June 1st Matthew Weber will begin as our new Chief Executive Officer and Suzi Weber will step down as CEO. She and Bill Weber, our two co-founders, have announced they will retire in September 2024. It is 46 years of dedicated leadership.

Matthew joined Development Guild in 2017, spearheaded our innovative AI platform, became a Principal of the firm (our strategic leadership group), and a Senior Vice President. We know him well and look forward to his tenure as Development Guild’s next CEO.

Matthew’s prior roles with high-tech startups, along with his experience with Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, Sesame Street, and other organizations, and as a professor at NYU and Columbia University lecturer,  has prepared him to lead us during a time of change, making him exceptionally suited to guide our firm into its next phases of excellence, growth, and innovation.

He shares with all of us a passionate commitment to the importance of our work – working with leaders of nonprofits, colleges, and hospitals to deepen their mission impact.

Working closely with Matthew to ensure that our clients receive the highest quality consultations and services, maintaining best practices and innovating new services and approaches, is our strategic leadership group, the Principals of the firm. Its eight members include: Deb Brown,  Kate Michaud, Karen Lieberman-Daly, Kieran McTague, Matthew Weber, Suzanne Battit, Suzanne Weber, and Tracy Marshall. Continuing in their top management roles are Suzanne Battit,  Chief of Fundraising Strategy and Services, who provides leadership and oversight of the fundraising practice and partners with the CEO on strategies and plans for sales and firm growth, Tracy Marshall, Executive Director of Search Practices, who with the Executive Search Task Force, oversees innovations and best practices for Development Guild executive search services, and Deb Brown, who as COO oversees operations.

Development Guild clients will continue to work with their current teams at Development Guild, and there are no other staff changes planned. Our transition strategy is robust, aimed at ensuring stability and continuity across all operations.

As we look forward to expanding and investing in our services, we are eager to engage directly with you through a listening tour this summer to better understand your needs and how we can serve you better. We are excited about the opportunities this transition brings for innovation and impact.

Thank you for your continued partnership and trust in Development Guild. We are excited to embark on this new chapter with you and are confident that with Matthew’s leadership, our future is bright.

We sat down with Matthew to discuss his career journey and his plans for his first 100 days as CEO and beyond. Read the interview here.
